The Inspiration for this Blog

The increased polorization between the Republicans and Democrats began at the beginning of Bill Clinton's presidency. During the Reagan and Bush years, and I believe before that as well, the two sides worked more closely, and there was better communication between the majority and minority leaders in the house and senate. Since Clinton was elected, and then on through the Bush II years, the divide between the two parties has grown. And while beltway politics do not always reflect what's happening in the rest of the country, I do sense that with the grassroots explosion that helped elect Obama, coupled with the small but strong base that the Republican party has nurtured over the past 30 years, that the distance that seperated the extreme left and extreme right has grown too great for there ever to be a reconciliation.

The hope for dialogue lies with the middle, or centrists, but much can be learned regarding the fears and doubts that plague society by examining its extremes. This site will serve to do just that by reviewing the news of the day and examining trends and events that may be associated by the left or right wings of the country.
